USCG Physical Exam - $150
The U.S. Coast Guard requires mariners to meet medical and physical standards when applying for or renewing a Captain’s License or Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC).
Your USCG physical examination must be completed on the required Coast Guard medical form and submitted with your application when applicable. The exam evaluates your overall medical fitness, including vision and other health requirements necessary to safely perform duties aboard a vessel.
Nautical School offers USCG-required physical examinations on-site, making it easy to complete your physical as part of the Captain’s License application or renewal process — no need to visit another provider.

USCG Drug Test - $125
The U.S. Coast Guard requires that a Drug Test Report be completed to ensure that all holders of Captain's Licenses and Merchant Mariner's documents are free of illegal drugs.
The Drug Test must be taken within six months of applying. You may submit one of the following as proof:
- That you have been subject to their drug test program during the previous 12 months in accordance with CFR 46 Part 40.
- That you have never failed a drug test.
- That you have never refused to test.
The Chemical Testing form, provided by The Nautical School and completed by your doctor, certifying you passed a chemical test from an approved SAMHSA lab within the last six months, conducted in accordance with 49 CFR Part 40. Your doctor must be able to conduct DOT testing, using Federal Control and Custody Forms.
